Frontend Engineer (React / TypeScript)

At Gauss Robotics, we make robotics engineering simple, affordable, and accessible — giving manufacturers a shortcut to robotics by automating engineering workflows with AI. With gauss.​chat, we are building the core interface that connects agentic AI to real robotic systems and simulation environments. Users can design, configure, and deploy robotic applications through natural language, real-time system feedback, and interactive 3D visualization. We are looking for a Frontend Engineer to take ownership of this system and help shape the future of AI-driven robotics engineering. This is a full-time position in Braunschweig (hybrid possible). Tasks Own and evolve the gauss.​chat frontend architecture built with React and TypeScript Design scalable UI structures and enforce clean modular boundaries in a growing codebase Integrate with modern authentication flows (OAuth, aws cognito, JWT) Implement real-time communication using WebSockets and Server-Sent Events (SSE) for streaming AI insights and robotics state updates Integrate deeply with backend services via REST APIs (Axios), streaming endpoints, and asynchronous workflows Develop high-performance 3D visualization components using Three.js and Meshcat for robotics simulation and system feedback Optimize rendering performance and responsiveness in real-time and 3D-heavy contexts Expand and maintain a reusable UI system using Material-UI (Joy) and Tailwind CSS Contribute to frontend testing strategy (unit + end-to-end) and enforce high code quality (ESLint, Prettier) Collaborate with backend, AI, and robotics engineers on architectural decisions and product direction Continuously identify and improve technical weaknesses in the frontend stack This role is about building and owning a system — with the right initiative and performance, this role can grow into a Frontend Lead / Head of Frontend position.
