Job Description
WHAT YOU WILL BE CHALLENGED WITH As a Requirements Engineer (f/m/d/x) at EMIL, you are the essential "bridge" between Business and Tech. You are responsible for the detail and clarity throughout the entire feature lifecycle, ensuring that friction between Product, QA, and Engineering is minimized. Specifically, this means: Translation & Clarity: You translate high-level initiatives and requirements from Product Management into detailed, actionable technical requirements and crystal-clear acceptance criteria. Backlog & Grooming: In close coordination with the PM, you improve and structure the product backlog. You specifically handle non-story changes, complex business logic, and the documentation of edge case. Test Enablement: You support Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) by deriving high-quality scenarios (e.g., in Gherkin syntax) directly from the requirements. Documentation & Structure: You own our "glossary" and domain terminology. You structure our internal knowledge base (Confluence) and maintain guidelines, templates, user guides, change logs, and API documentation. Information Flow & Input Processing: You gather inputs from PMs, Designers (mockups), as well as Devs & QA, and convert them into clarified business logic. Solution Output: You provide Developers and QA with specified logic and edge cases, return prepared requirements to the PM for review, and supply the rest of the team with the necessary accompanying material. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Experience: Several years of professional experience in Requirements Engineering, IT Business Analysis, or a similar cross-functional role (ideally in a SaaS, insurance, or finance environment). Agile & Testing: Solid knowledge of agile frameworks. You have practical experience with formulating test cases (e.g., BDD / Gherkin). Bridge-Builder Mentality: Strong analytical skills to grasp complex business needs and translate them into a language that Developers and QA can immediately work with. Attention to Detail: You have a passion for structure, documentation ("Detail and Clarity"), and uncovering edge cases before they become bottlenecks in development. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and good skills in German (B2) to smoothly mediate between technical and non-technical stakeholders. Tools: Hands-on experience with PM and documentation tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, API documentation platforms). WHAT WE OFFER An attractive salary package tailored to your experience, qualifications, and responsibilities. A remote-friendly working model with occasional travel to our Berlin office. 30 days of paid vacation, plus we give you half the day off on December 24th and 31st. A personal development budget of at least €500 (potentially more), which we use to jointly invest in your growth. Exciting internal development opportunities thanks to a set role-development model, fixed feedback cycles, and performance reviews. A company subsidy for an Urban Sports Club membership to support your work-life balance. A heavily subsidized company pension scheme so we can optimally prepare for your future together. A VSOP program, allowing you as an employee to additionally benefit from the company's success. We provide you with modern hardware; you choose whether you want Windows or iOS. With weekly company lunches and a fully stocked snack bar, everything is ready for when you get hungry in between. As part of a dynamic and motivated team of experts, you benefit directly from the knowledge of your colleagues, as team spirit and mutual support are an essential part of our culture.
