Your Impact: As a Senior QA Automation Engineer, you will be the primary architect and strategist for our quality ecosystem. We are looking for a technical leader who can transition our testing from traditional models to an AI-augmented, high-speed automation framework. You will own the Playwright roadmap, lead the automation team, and ensure our cloud-native applications on AWS meet the highest standards of reliability and performance. You will also work across teams to implement best practices, ensure testability in design, and enhance CI/CD processes. What You’ll Do: Define and drive the overall QA strategy, balancing automated vs. manual efforts to hit aggressive release targets. Architect and scale a robust, distributed automation framework using Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript). Lead the automation guild, conducting high-standard code reviews and mentoring junior engineers on clean code and design patterns. Research and implement AI-driven testing tools (e.g., self-healing scripts or predictive bug analysis) to increase coverage. Expand automation coverage across UI, API, and backend services for our SaaS platform. Partner with DevOps to embed Playwright suites into GitHub Workflows using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS/ECS). Influence testability in the SDLC by working closely with developers and product teams. Lead performance testing efforts using tools like k6 or JMeter to identify system bottlenecks. Analyze production health and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using Datadog. What You'll Bring: Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent. Experience with e-commerce and with specific experience of Shopify a plus! Deep knowledge of test automation frameworks, with expert-level proficiency in Playwright being a must. Good experience with Kubernetes (EKS, ECS), Docker, and AWS services. Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub workflows, and infrastructure automation. Proven track record in performance testing and optimization techniques. Experience or a strong vision for incorporating AI/ML into the testing lifecycle. Proficiency in analyzing logs and debugging issues using Datadog or similar observability tools. Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to bridge technical complexity for non-technical stakeholders. Quantities: What other characteristics do we look for? Leadership for sure.
