Root’s Engineering team is committed to building a flexible platform on which our product designers and quantitative scientists can quickly test ideas, deploy them into production, and iterate, with the ultimate objective of a delightful customer experience coupled with effective risk management.The OpportunityWe are looking for a Software Engineer to join engineering at Root. In this role, you will work closely with peers on a team within a product domain (e.g. Pricing, Underwriting, Claims, etc). You’ll play a key role in solving customer and business problems in collaboration with your teammates.Salary Range: $136,500 - $155,000 (Eligible for Competitive Bonus & Equity Offering)Root is a “work where it works best” company. This means we will support you working in whatever location that works best for you across the US.How You Will Make an ImpactWrite, test, and deploy software solutions that are accurate and resilientActively seek to understand the customer’s problem to ensure you are developing effective solutionsCollaborate closely with supportive teammates to share and improve your workClearly communicate and document your work to help others learnSupport your systems in production resolving incidents and issues that affect our customersIncrease the effectiveness of your team by suggesting code and process improvementsWhat You Will Need to Succeed2+ years as a software engineerExperience in Ruby on Rails or equivalentFamiliarity with React/React Native or equivalentsAn eagerness to work closely with your team in a collaborative environmentCuriosity in clearly defining the customer problem that needs to be solvedExcellent communication skills both with engineering colleagues and team stakeholdersAs part of Root's interview process, we kindly ask that all candidates be on camera for virtual interviews.
