About the Role AV Labs is seeking a Software Engineer to join our specialized mobile team. This role is central to the development and optimization of high-fidelity user interfaces for in-vehicle monitoring and diagnostic systems. You will design and maintain applications for Android-based hardware that interface directly with embedded computing units to provide real-time visualization of complex environmental sensor data. This position requires a versatile developer capable of working across native Android and modern web stacks to bridge the gap between sophisticated backend data processing and intuitive, low-latency user experiences. What the Candidate Will Do : 1. Application Development: Design and implement robust applications for specialized tablet form factors using the Android SDK and modern Web frameworks. 2. Data Visualization: Develop high-performance visualization frameworks for multi-sensor inputs. 3. System Integration: Collaborate on the development of communication protocols to ensure seamless data transmission between the compute station and the display interface. 4. Validation & Performance Tuning: Participate in field testing to troubleshoot hardware-software integration. Basic Qualifications: 1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline. 2. Experience in web/mobile development 3. Familiarity with synchronous programming and state management patterns. 4. Understanding of standard networking protocols. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Prior exposure to Native-to-Web communication. 2. Familiarity with 3D rendering concepts or spatial data visualization. 3. Experience in robotics, autonomous systems, or hardware-software integration. For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$171,000 per year - USD$190,000 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan.
