Skailark is seeking an Aviation Data Engineer to develop and implement data models and algorithms for their digital twin of the global aviation market. The role requires strong analytical thinking, independent problem-solving, and a "getting things done" mindset to leverage massive aviation datasets for financial and environmental optimization. This is an interesting opportunity to work with major airlines and airports and shape the future of aviation data analytics.

Job Description

The Challenge: Aircraft and airlines generate and collect massive amounts of data, but this data is hardly aggregated and leveraged in the industry. As a result, critical decisions are often based on fragmented or misinterpreted information, leading to financial inefficiencies and avoidable CO2 emissions. Our Solution: At Skailark, we help airlines make smarter decisions — financially and environmentally. We’ve built a digital twin of the global aviation market, modeling every seat on every flight across every airline. Our platform tracks fuel burn, CO₂ emissions, fleet costs, maintenance cycles, and operational constraints, allowing airlines to simulate decisions before they’re made and optimize real-world performance. Trusted by airlines like American Airlines, British Airways, Finnair, and Transavia and airports such as London Heathrow, Skailark is where complex data meets real impact. Ready to help shape the future of aviation? Tasks You will work closely with our Head of Product to shape our digital twin and use real-world aviation data to generate insights with tangible impact. The ideal candidate is an exceptional analytical thinker who can independently translate strong complex operational environments into clear and scalable data models with strong ownership and a “getting things done” mindset. Responsibilities: Develop and implement data models and algorithms/workflows to improve our aviation digital twin. Analyze and interpret large volumes of aviation-related data from multiple sources. Own and build data pipelines and databases for effective data modeling and updating. Work with the product team to help shape our products for our aviation clients with your ideas. Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in aviation data analytics. Requirements Strong analytical and logical thinking, able to break down ambiguity into clear frameworks. Independent, self-driven, and delivery-focused with a “getting things done” mindset. Ability to model complex real-world systems and translate them into structured data solutions. Proven expertise in data wrangling, manipulation, and analysis, with hands-on experience with Alteryx or similar technologies. Experience working as a Data Analyst/Engineer/Scientist is a strong plus. Experience with aviation data, operational data modeling, or consulting is highly desirable. Based in Munich or willing to relocate. A valid European Union work permit is required. Proficiency in written and spoken English (German not required). Benefits Flexible working hours with the ability to work remotely occasionally Opportunity to work in a fast-growing cutting-edge tech startup. Make a meaningful impact on the aviation industry. Competitive salary commensurate with experience Ongoing professional development through structured coaching. Collaborative and inclusive work environment. Team events, offsites, and aviation-themed nerdiness. Skailark is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and respects individuals from all backgrounds. Join our international crew and help shape the future of aviation! We’d love to hear from you. Find Jobs in Germany on Arbeitnow
